I’m worried my girlfriend wants to have babies. She’s thirty one and all her friends are married with kids. She says she’s taking her pill, but I checked yesterday and all the pills are still there. Do you think she’s trying to get pregnant?

Dan says

“Possibly. I really don’t know. The fact that you’re worried would say to me that you don’t want to have babies with her. And the fact that you’re worried also says to me that you think she might want to?If you’re ready, tell her. If you don’t want babies ever, tell her. If you don’t want babies specifically with her, tell her. Never waste a day prolonging what’s inevitable. There maybe someone else out there even more compatible with her, ready to put a bun in the oven. Don’t deny her that, just because you’re not quite there yet.”

Caroline says

“Yikes! I would first check that those are the right pill packet. She may have another one in her purse and you are freaking out for nothing. I would ask her straight out. A woman biological clock is a powerful thing, it can consume you and women will lie and try to get pregnant on purpose. It happens all the time and rational thought goes out the window when baby fever takes over. If you come from a place of compassion and understanding you should be able to have a grown up conversation about it.”
